IN 2013 American war film, Lone Survivor was written and directed by Peter Berg, and starring Mark Wahlberg, Emile Hirsch, Taylor Kristch, ,Eric Bana and Ben Foster. The film is completely based on prose book of an equivalent name by Marcus Luttrell with patron saint Robinson which published on 2007. Set during the war in Asian nation, Lone Survivor dramatizes a four-man SEAL intelligence and police investigation team was tasked to track down and kill Taleban leader Ahmad sovereignthe which is unsuccessful United States Navy SEALs counter-insurgent mission Operation Red Wings

Initially in 2007 Berg learned of the book Lone Survivor, while he was picture taking John Hancock (2008). He discuss adapting the book and arranged many conferences with Luttrell .In August 2007 Universal Pictures secured the film rights and  once bidding against alternative Biggest film studios. In re-viisualising the events of Operation Red Wings, Berg drew a lot of of his playscript from Luttrell's looker accounts in the book, as well as autopsy and incident reports associated with the mission. After directional war vessel (2012) for Universal, Berg returned to work on Lone Survivor. Principal photography began in October 2012 and all over in November once forty two days; picture taking took place on location in NM, using digital motion-picture photography. Luttrell and several alternative sailor veterans acted as technical advisors, while multiple branches of the United States defense force motor-assisted the film's production.

Lone Survivor opened in limited unharness in the u.  s. on December twenty five, 2013, before opening across North America on Gregorian calendar month ten, 2014, to strong money success and a typically positive important response. Most critics praised Berg's direction, as well because the story,cinematography, visuals, acting and battle sequences. Other critics, however, criticised the film for focusing more on its action scenes more than acting.This movie grossed over $154 million in box-office revenue worldwide—of which $125 million was from North America. The film awarded two Academy Award nominations for Best Sound piece of writing and Best Sound mixture.
